WINTER BOOK SALE

Book sale is usually held the weekend after the Martin Luther King Holiday.
Our annual book sale is scheduled for January 21-26 2025. Details are available at Book Sale Finder.  With your support we are able to continue our assistance to the library! Books, CDs, DVDs, and LPs may be donated by calling 252-946-4300 and making an appointment for a drop-off time.

DONATIONS OF BOOKS and other materials as mentioned above for both the Winter and Ongoing sales can be made at the Brown Library.

For large donations (multiple boxes), please try to arrive before 11:00 AM for assistance unloading.

  • Donations may now be accepted by appointment Monday through Friday during business hours. As we do not wish to overwhelm the volunteers, please call 252-946-4300 to book your appointment in advance of arrival.

  • The books should be in good condition. They should be clean, unmarked, and not have a mildew or smoky odor.

  • Hardback and paperback fiction are our largest categories. Classic authors as well as romance, adventure, western, and mystery are all requested by buyers.

  • Juvenile fiction and nonfiction are needed. Children's books are one of our most requested items. Books for home schooling are appreciated.

  • The most popular nonfiction items are history, biography, gardening, animals, and cookbooks.

  • Audio books on CD, CD's, LPs and videos are popular.

  • Please do not donate textbooks, Childcraft books, old reference books, magazines, VCR tapes, or old paperback or hardcover books in poor condition. These items are not saleable.
